This wasn’t just any lineup. Todd Rundgren at his wizarding best. Roger Powell, cool and precise. John Siegler’s bass lines stitching the seams together. Willie Wilcox hammering the beat forward. And in the shadows, voices that would one day rise to stardom—25-year old Luther Vandross, fresh off a tour backing David Bowie, and Luther's future bandmate Anthony Hinton—lifting choruses into something celestial.
