Stunning ORIGINAL U.K. 1970 Orange Label RCA Victor STEREO pressing of Nina Simone’s ‘Nina Simone and Piano!’ L.P. (Catalogue Reference: RCA Victor SF8074).  I believe this is the 1st pressing of this.  The matrixes read ‘WPRS 6248 1’ and ‘WPRS 6249 1’.  This features a typical RCA sleeve construction for the period (thin and flimsy and only laminated on the front of the sleeve).  The labels are ‘matt’ in appearance rather than the shiny labels you see later in the 1970s.  This is a really stunning copy of this which I’d guess has been played once or twice.  The vinyl retains a great sheen.  Grading under an intense light there is a very light, superficial surface scuff measuring approximately an inch on the last track on Side Two (‘The Desperate Ones’).  This is insignificant enough as to only really be visible when the vinyl is angled under a light.  Otherwise you have to look really, really hard for the odd, miniscule hairline mark.  The crispness of the original paper inner sleeve demonstrates how little play this copy has seen and the vinyl is an easy EXCELLENT+ grading.  The sleeve has survived in remarkable condition if you consider how prone to damage these cheap and flimsy RCA sleeves are.  The crisp appearance of the laminate and the whiteness of the rear of the sleeve again demonstrate how little handling this copy has seen.  I should note that there is a number written in blue ink on the rear of the sleeve in the top right-hand corner (‘923’) and I know that some people get quite animated about such things.  There is perhaps a minimal amount of grubbiness near the opening edge on the rear.  The two bottom corners displays a minimal amount of fraying whereas the two top corners are quite sharp.  Small laminate bubbles have formed along the spine on the front however, these are inevitable and are a by-product of the manufacturing process in which the spine is ‘pinched’ in order to display the spine information.  There is the odd impression in the soft cardboard on the front of the sleeve but otherwise I can’t see any other flaws worth mentioning and the sleeve also grades as an easy EXCELLENT+.

Concluding Remarks

I cannot imagine that you’d fine a superior example of this record.  It really doesn’t look 45 years old and has obviously sat on a shelf for decades.  Please check my other auctions for a further Simone LP from the same source (‘’Nuff Said!’) as well as a large selection of Folk, Pop, RnB, Rock and Soul items in similarly immaculate condition.  Please save me as a favourite seller as there is plenty more where this came from!

I have been a collector for in excess of 15 years now and regard myself as a conservative grader.  I know from experience that there is nothing worse than buying an item which is described with superlatives only for it to arrive and look like it has been scrapped along the floor (!).  As a rule I don’t submit anything to auction which I wouldn’t be happy receiving myself.  I endeavour to be accurate with my grading and all items are graded under an intense light.  Please take a look through my feedback as I’d like to think it speaks for itself. 

Returns Policy

If you are not entirely happy with your purchase then please contact me within 7 days of receipt.  The buyer is expected to meet the return postage costs.

Payment Methods

Domestic buyers can pay via Cheque, PayPal or Postal Order.  Overseas buyers are always welcome and are required to pay via PayPal.  Payment is expected within 7 days of auction end unless otherwise agreed.

Postage Costs

I have had to bring my service in-line with changes to Royal Mail Terms and Conditions effective of April 2013.  Previously items sent via standard post were automatically covered up to the value of £46.00 however, standard postage now only covers items up to the value of £20.00.  Items with an opening value >£20.00 will include domestic Signed For postage costs automatically.  Items with an opening value <=£20.00 and which complete with a value <=£20.00 will continue to be dispatched via standard post unless otherwise agreed (i.e. the buyer indicates a preference otherwise).  Items which have an opening value <=£20.00 but whose final value is >£20.00 will be subject to enhanced postage costs in order to cover the extra insurance which is required.  I hope this is as straightforward as I can make it?  Ultimately, please don’t make payment until you’ve received an invoice from me and if you aren’t happy with the invoice you receive then I’m always open to discussion.  Buyers should be aware that both Ebay and PayPal take a % of postage charges (i.e. they are higher than I’d ideally want them to be).

Multiple purchases will be subject to consolidated postage costs.  I will contact you at the end of the auction to confirm these costs.
