If a ‘face made for radio’ was a record, this would be it! More accurately, this is an album made for framing on your wall. A bragging point. A grail.
“But what if I want to listen to it? What about the sound! You didn’t think of the sound!”
As a matter of fact, I sure did!
If you’re looking for beautifully crisp Kurt vocals over Grohl’s excellently-tuned and aggressive drums…
If you’re trying to get lost in the depths of music and discover a note that has never quite registered with you on any other pressing…
Then this is probably not the vinyl for you. The remasters are EXCELLENT.
Now, if you’re still here, you probably already know about the CRC pressing. You probably know it sounds like a quality band practicing in a far-off garage just loudly enough for your ears to perk up as you nod your head and give an affirming, “Huh. They’re pretty good.”
It’s relatively quiet with not the depth of sound you’d expect. At times, it feels like there is as much sound of the vinyl itself (static and faint pops) as there is from any of the songs.
So, is it worth it?
YES. With less than a rumored 3,000 produced, this is a legitimate grail.
Several of the photos have been edited with extra contrast and/or brightness to show you the surface of this record properly and emphasize the few cosmetic defects which are present, so you know exactly what it is that you’re getting.
eBay limits photo uploads to a maximum of 12 meaning more photos are available! Message to have them sent over.
Condition:
Sleeve: VG+/Ex
Yellowing and some creases, but fantastic condition otherwise. I'd say easily VG+/Ex, leaning towards Excellent.
Vinyl: VG/VG+
There is a beautiful luster to this album.
You can see a blemish on Side 2, with hairline scratches that do not affect the playback.
Side 1 has a larger hairline and a small one (you’ll see it looks somewhat like a rune) near the Matrix.
They do not affect playback. It still sounds like the day it was pressed…for framing.
That said, this is not an absolutely mint record, so if that is what you're expecting please wait until that one possibly comes along.
Jacket: VG/VG+
The jacket has some ringwear and speckling in spots. The corners have some creasing and bending but do not detract from the jacket much.
That said, these are all subjective, so please, please do your due diligence and examine these photos thoroughly.
SHIPPING:
I am a lifelong collector, so I understand the concern involved. That means your record was already carefully extracted from the jacket and sleeve, was carefully cleaned and photographed with white gloves and a firm table surface that would not scratch the delicate collectible, and then put into an inner sleeve.
When you're ready to bring it home, it will be sandwiched between sturdy cardboard with the jacket and sleeve on the outside with some more cardboard on the outside of them, a little bubble wrap, and some secret sauce then placed into a slightly oversized box with big, red 'fragile' stickers decorating the exterior.
This particular item will also be insured and I will happily require signature to provide peace of mind. Please let me know ahead of time.
Thanks so much for checking this rare item out, and be sure to give my other items a look! I'll be adding more vintage vinyl every day, and combined shipping is a great way to negotiate a better offer price.
