Description
Original UK Reprise tri-colour steamboat label stereo 1st press LP.The song 'Spirit In The Sky' Greenbaum said: "I thought, 'Yeah, I could do that,' knowing nothing about gospel music, so I sat down and wrote my own gospel song. It came easy. I wrote the words in 15 minutes." With its combination of 'heavy' guitar, hand-clapping, and spiritual lyrics, it was released in March 1969 and is also claimed as one of the first recordings to use a sample to create the distinctive riff of the chorus.
The MacNeill Press matt sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some very light corner wear and some light foxing on the front cover. The spine is intact and fully readable, the company inner is intact & in EX condition. The record is in visually EX+ condition, with only one or two faint & wispy sleeve removal hairlines and one or two light needle scuffs visible on each side. The labels are in EX+ condition, clean & bright with evidence of a couple of faint spindle markings. The sound reproduction is EX+, still clear & precise throughout with no loud pops, crackle or hiss and definately no skips, sticks or jumps, overall a really great, loud and punchy listen!! The matrix nos. are; RSLP-6365, A-1*T STEREO stamper C-1, B-1*T-STEREO stamper D-2. This is one of the earliest copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1969 UK stereo issue of this album!
All records are checked on an Acoustic Research deck before being listed and any flaws noted in the listing, so if you have any problems with the record please contact me for a full refund of original price & postage on return of the record (no partial refunds), no quibbles, no problems!! All grades are those used in the Record Collector Guide. All lp's are sent in cardboard record mailers with plastic covers and cardboard stiffeners to protect the LP's!! UK Signed For Postage is £4.50 for the first LP & is the same for up to four single LP's or two double LP's or more up to 2 KG!,
