Norman Petty Trio Nor-Va-Jack w/letter VERY RARE

BID.
Up for sale is an extremely rare piece of Clovis New Mexico Norman Petty
memorabilia.
Offering a copy of “It’s Been a Long Long Time” / “Almost Paradise” - by the
Norman Petty Trio (Nor-Va-Jack 1316) AND an original letter to a radio station
promoting the single.
Letter is dated Jan. 8, 1957 and addressed to Dick Martin of radio station WWL in
New Orleans. Martin is the host of “Moonglow with Martin.” Letter is written by
C.L. Moody, who worked at the Norman Petty studio.
I'm sure anyone looking at this auction knows that the label name is a combination of
the names of Norman Petty (NORman) VA (short for his wife Violet Anne), and JAK (for Jack Vaughan).
Bit of Norman Petty/Buddy Holly trivia: During the time this record was released,
Buddy, Don Guess, and Sonny Curtis join the Hank Thompson tour. Other artists
on the tour include Wanda Jackson, Mitchell Torek, Hank Locklin, Cowboy
Copas, George Jones, and Justin Tubb.
The following month Buddy travels to the Norman Petty Studio and records “I'm
Looking For Someone To Love” and the hit version of “That'll Be The Day.”
(Has really nothing to do with this record, but thought it was interesting all the
same).

CONDITION: PLEASE READ
Vinyl: Wish I could tell you this is mint – it is not. “Long Time” has two obvious
marks across the vinyl. The song plays through (no skips), but you can hear the
marks I describe. “Paradise” plays through without any issues. Vinyl has very
slight storage warp. Label is clean, however there is writing on the “Paradise” side
“Norva Publishing.”
Letter: Very slight yellowing on the edges, but in excellent condition.
Envelope: Looks like it was used as label for a box, as there is old tape around the
envelope. Has a $.03 Liberty stamp on it. Postmarked Jan. 9, 1957.
