(United Artists 50095) Out of New York, this 1966 Spectoresque release is the only single issued by Mr. Bruno on the United Artists label. After his musical beginings as a producer at the Brill Building and later at Scepter/Wand records, his singing career happened as a fluke. When an artist that he was producing failed to show up for the session, he laid down the vocals himself which stirred an interest with arranger/producer Artie Ripp. An albums worth of material was recorded and issued on the Buddah label. After it failed to make any noise the master was sold to Capitol where it was re-released and eventually a second LP followed. Both sides of this wonderful disc are dramatic and similar in style to that of a Righteous Brothers record. While not hits when originally issued, over time, interest in Tony Bruno's music has grown especially among the Northern Soul crowd.
