Indie/Alternative Side 1. Whatever Side 2. (It's Good') To Be Free

Melodies can come work like magic and can be plucked from the air lending an appeal to lyrics that would otherwise fall apart as poetry alone. On 'Whatever' by Oasis, EMI claimed in a lawsuit that the melody accompanying the line "How Sweet to be an Idiot"/"I'm free to be whatever I" is plucked straight from Neil Innes of the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band's, song 'How Sweet to Be an Idiot.' Neil Innes subsequently received a co-writing credit. That aside, 'Whatever' works as a timeless composition and is one of the all-time great Oasis songs, highly likely to be included in their set when they play reunion stadium gigs in 2025. It's set to be a Weller cut summer and merch like this ramps up the mood, while being not subject to surge pricing. Bonus!
