Description
Here’s an interesting and unique acetate! This is a 12 inch one-sided acetate disk with seven tracks on it. The group name is listed as the Pendletons, and they have a surf instrumental guitar type of sound. I guess the Ventures would be a good comparison. I really can’t find any information on this group. The label gives a recording date of December 4, 1965. The songs are It Had To Be You, Because (Cover of the Dave Clark Five Song), House of the Rising Sun (Never thought I’d hear a surf version of this tune, but here it is, and it actually really works!), Act Naturally, Wild Weekend, Apache, and a tune called “Stalk” that might be a band composition. Strangely, there are two other songs listed on the label that are not on the record, “Peg Of My Heart” and “Joulosy” (sic). The disc has a fair amount of scuffing, but it does play fairly well, and I didn’t detect any skips. I’ve made a youtube clip that has short samples of each song, with my favorite ones towards the beginning.
