Description

Up for auction is a nice original copy of the Oliver Nelson album "Taking Care Of Business" originally released in the U.S. on New Jazz Records (NJLP 8233) in 1960.
-Guaranteed original First Pressing -Deep Groove Labels -RVG stamped in run-out matrix -Original laminated cover -No UPC/bar code on cover -Still in opened factory shrink wrap -Vinyl comes in audiophile poly-lined inner sleeve -Features Lem Winchester
Condition: Still in opened factory shrink wrap, the cover has been well preserved with some minor signs of age and wear.  Lamination is still nice and shiny, no rubbing wear, just a tiny bit of lifting along open end.  Back cover is nice, but has some light moisture staining along bottom edge, and some age showing along left edge.  Corners are sharp, but the two along opening show some light rub.  Seams are strong, intact, no splits.  The shrink wrap has caused a minor "dishing" to the cover, but if you were to remove the shrink wrap, it would surely flatten out perfectly.  Grade the cover Excellent Minus (EX-), better than most VG+ copies.
The vinyl is also in very nice condition, still retains its original shine and luster.  No apparent scratches or scuffs, just some light signs of having been taken out of the inner sleeve a few times.  Does have a few factory pressing "blips" here and there, but they do not affect the quality of the playback.  Labels are clean.
I have Play-Tested this record, and the sound quality, when played in recommended MONO mode, is very nice, generally clear.  As you know, these New Jazz pressings are known to have some inherent background noise, and this one is no exception.  I don't believe it is caused by any groove damage, and it certainly never overwhelms or challenges the quality of playback.  When the music kicks in, the sound is full-bodied and clear.  I doubt this record has been played more than a couple times.  Grade the vinyl as Excellent (EX).
