EMI (Voix de l'Orient) GVDL-261,  1977 original issue, 1st pressing Stereo

 

Egyptian born guitarist and actor Omar Khorshid (??? ???????) (1945-1981) had played guitar with the likes of Abdel Halim Hafez and Oum Kalsoum before recording on his own in Lebanon through the 70's (he died tragically in a car accident in 1981 at just 36 years old).

A brilliant guitarist with an instantly-identifiable trippy guitar sound, Khorshid essentially created an entire musical sub-genre with his singular psych-tinged electric take on Middle Eastern music......full of staccato played tremolo, surf sounds, sound effects, distorted guitar and improvisations with oud-like melodies over eastern belly dance grooves.

An excellent album by perhaps the greatest guitarist (and arguably one of the overall finest instrumentalists) that the Arab world has ever produced.
