Some words on this issue: ORCHESTRAL SPACE: “Orchestral Space at Nissei Theatre 1966 – Vol. 2” (Victor Records – SJV-1513) Cornerstone in Japan's recorded electronic music and avant-garde history. Recorded live in Tokyo in 1966, it brings together the crème de la crème of that day electronic music/ avant-garde scene. It contains stunning live versions by and executed by the composers such as Gyorgy Ligeti “Atmospheres”; Iannis Xenakis “Strategie”; John Cage “The Wonderful Widow of 18 Springs”; Roger Reynolds “Amabages” and Motohiko Adachi “Concerto G for String Orchestra”. Stunning document of the first wave of avant-garde active on their 1st visit to Japan and blending it with the local scene. This is the rarest of the two Orchestral Space recordings, stunning condition for even more bewildering music.
