Here's the BRITISH only 1970 ORIGINAL second LP by the mighty HIGH TIDE who made two well worth investigating hard psych/prog albums at the cusp of 1970. Led by powerful guitarist Tony Hill who made the MISUNDERSTOOD a fantastic UK '60s psych band, he recruited the then unknown Simon House who went on with Hawkwind & David Bowie to create long battles of electric violin & distortion guitar within doomy heavy psychedelic laced progressive unmemorable melodies. Quite a few collectors have noted they enjoy this second LP more than the "Sea Shanties" album. Whatever the case, both Lp's are in the files of noteworthy British underground artifacts from the early '70s.

Coming off of a short stint playing with David Bowie and Bowie’s gal Hermione in the avant-garde “cabaret” act / folk band Turquoise (later Feathers), guitarist and singer Tony Hill started High Tide, a very heavy UK band that created two great LPs over a short few years together. Hill was previously of the highly-regarded Misunderstood from 1963 to 1968, a band who set a new standard for the light show in rock shows in the UK. He recruited Peter Pavli on bass guitar, Roger Hadden on drums, and Simon House on violin. The band was among the early practioners of the violin-in-a-rock-band novelty for High Tide it fits in quite perfectly and doesn’t feel forced.
Hill’s guitar is deliciously dirty and powerfully messy and is the absolute highlight of the record. High Tide shares Led Zeppelin’s and Uriah Heep’s heaviness, but is not blues-rooted. Instead they forge ahead in a raw garage rock fashion where prog-like lines of melody exist with just enough intricacy to show you they can play their instruments well, and just enough dirtiness to make sure you know they aren’t taking that proficiency too seriously.
They also ventured into prog territory with changing time signatures and tempos, soft-hard dynamics, multi-part arrangements, and even some ornate Baroque interludes".
This second album, High Tide, was released in 1970, but Roger Hadden, who had been suffering from chronic mental instability and depression since before joining High Tide, had a mental breakdown and was hospitalized soon after unable to continue without Hadden, the group split up.

CONDITION: The cover: rated: VG not well cared for as the very delicate UK textured cover has moderate handling-crinkles, light creases and light wear. Otherwise still colorful and no split seams, so possibility of an otherwise not available item in MINT for $200-ish may go for a more affordable sum, depending interest. Most collectors who would welcome this rarity, don't have based on the item being far more difficult to locate than the first LP "Sea Shanties." To recap, light wear, moderate amount of light handling crinkles, strong colors, no split seams, no wear, some light handling bands (cover very thin/textured per UK 1970 manufacturing, no delete marks. Overall still collectible, sure, just not on the minty level, but should 'do' in a pinch to own.
The vinyl: Rated: is a clean VG few light scuffs, less hairlines, plays about VG with no alarming jumps or skips, way better than that, so while noticeable ticks here or there, the bulk of the LP plays without annoying audio disturbance. Both UK Liberty labels are clean with a few minor/light spindle marks on labels noticeable only with reflective light. A cool addition to anyone's music library!
