Hi All, the thinning out continues. I’ve sorted out a few more choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting. This time round we have for your consideration:
Title: REVOLVER by THE BEATLES
Cat No: PCS 7009 – STEREO
Issue: Original 1966 issue on the B/Y PARLOPHONE Label; Correct Gramophone rim-text and Sold In the UK label text.
Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl grades as VG+; the vinyl has retained some of its gloss and sheen and is quite presentable. There are a few very light scratches to both sides and a few marks, however, these are all non-feelable and do not affect play. Overall the disc is clean and all in all, it’s a very presentable copy of what is a wonderful and elusive stereo album and as such it is most worthy of the VG+ grade.
Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl grades as VG+; almost but not quite silent at the run-in, thereafter it plays back with occasional mild and low level static and a few clicks/pops. Even between tracks it’s quite silent and pleasing, overall there’s minimum lessening is sound quality and the music is delivered just fab. The vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable and plays through with no skips or jumps.
Label Condition: VG+; Very nice labels showing just the bare minimum of spindle marks. No writing or damage whatsoever to the labels and all the text is clean and clear.
Cover Front: The front cover grades as VG; the laminated front is clean and essentially undamaged retaining its shape quite well. The central image is clear and the white is turning more familiar shade of Cream. The lamination is fine with just some mild creases in a few places and ring-wear is evident. There are numerous small creases in the laminate mainly at the spine edge, and one notable crease/bend bottom left by Ringo’s nose, its not too big (the crease that is, I’m not commenting on the nose!) and aside from this, there are no other notable creases/splits to report and the top and bottom edges are surprisingly in good order – One or two age related marks but all commensurate with age and grade. Overall it’s a pretty decent example of this sleeve.
Cover Back: VG; the unlaminated G&L back is in VG condition being clean and essentially damage free. One or two age related marks and some light rubbing in places and ring-wear is evident. The flip-backs are secure but they are a little age related marked. Notable mild bend bottom right corner through the Emitex description, other than that it’s in VG order.
Spine: EX; the spine is intact, clean with good lamination cover. It has retained some of its square shape, and some evidence of pinched corners remains and although the text is very legible and clear there are numerous cracks in the laminate at the spine edge.
Corners: G; mild and gentle knocks and all rounded off slightly.
Opening Edge: A few bumps and dings from normal use along the opening edge but overall it’s pretty straight.
Inserts/Other: Original advertisement inner.
Summary: A sheer joy to play and to listen to whilst studying the sleeve; isn’t this why we collect vinyl? As a package, the album is graded as VG overall. If you’re seeking a copy of this wonderful and elusive stereo album you could do a lot worse than grabbing this copy. I’m sure the new owner will be delighted with it.
Postage: With regard to postage, all records will be posted in 12” Defenda- corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me.
