Description
Up for grabs is this really unusual record which i guess is well over 100 years old...an original single sided 17.5cm (just under 7 inch) E.Berlinner Gramophone disc (78rpm) titled Washed In The Blood Of The Lamb sung by Mr Albert Pearce (Tenor) , London serial number 2-2067....all of the above information is stamped into the disc in the centre so there is no paper label..... on the back of the disc which is plain is stamped Reproduced In Hanover.
Please note that the flash affected the photo as the disc is quite shiny so the disc looks much better in real life.
I guess that these particular types of discs are now fairly rare to find , i'm not really quite sure of the exact age of it but guess its late victorian or early 20th century....please check out my other auctions as i have 17 different discs to list similar to this on various labels and i will also be listing an original oak carrying case which is designed to hold this particular size of disc....the case is made by the Gramophone Company.
Size of the disc is 17.5cm (just under 7 inches).
Condition considering its great age is very good , i haven't played it so i have no idea what it sounds like or if it will play at all ?....there are no cracks , few small surface scratches which i guess is to be expected .... one very small edge nibble which i have shown in the photo and i assume won't affect play ....there is one indentation ridge across the record which looks like it might be a fault in the manufacture and again i don't think it will affect play so please take note of all of the above points before you bid and buy.
I have described the record as accurately as possible but if you have any more questions please email....i'm affraid i don't know a great deal about these particular types of records as i have never come across any before , just something i aquired a few years ago in a job lot of records i bought and i thought the case and discs looked interesting so i stored them.
Postage is for registered signed for and insured within the uk , it may cost less to send than quoted and if you would like it to go by ordinary 2nd class just let me know but please do not pay until i send you your invoice through as none of the records are packed and weighed yet but if you happen to overpay i always send refunds through paypal.....it will be very well packed so i'm sure will arrive safely.
OVERSEAS BIDDERS PLEASE DO NOT PAY UNTIL I SEND YOU YOUR INVOICE WITH THE CORRECT POSTAGE FOR YOUR COUNTRY AS THE PRICE IN THE LISTING IS ONLY AN ESTIMATE....THANKS
A genuine and i guess rare type of record listed with no reserve now looking for a new home.
Please note that the postage quote in the listing for the record is only an estimate as none of the records listed are packed and weighed yet and i haven't posted any records before.....the quote is for signed for and insured but they will cost much less if they go by ordinary 2nd class standard.
Also i'm very happy to combine items and postage so it will work out much cheaper to post , i always charge the exact amount to send things and if you do happen to overpay i always send refunds through paypal.
Please do not pay though until i send you a combined invoice through....thanks.
