Description
Reluctantly, due to downsizing, I am offering a piece of Rock history !!!
An original Sun record release ( SUN 223 ) on 78RPM , in Excellent condition, released in August 1955
" MYSTERY TRAIN / I FORGOT TO REMEMBER TO FORGET "
Elvis released only 5 singles on the Sun label, this being the last of them, before he signed for RCA Victor.
Then in January 1956, he walked into the RCA Studios , and recorded " Heartbreak Hotel " and the world was never the same !!
RCA originally attempted to recapture the " Sun Sound ", but were never able to, due to the unique accoustics in the Sun Building on Union Avenue,Memphis, Tenn.
This last Sun release was only distributed over a limited area of the Southern states of the US, and due to the brittle nature of 78's, not many have survived and even fewer are available for sale.
This iconic recording ( often copied, never bettered ) featured in the 1972 release " Elvis on Tour ", in the segment which looks back on Elvis's early days in Memphis and at Sun.
The record itself is in excellent condition on both sides, has no tears or writing on the label, and has no scratches at all. The record plays immaculately as we did test it, prior to mounting it for display.
The record is mounted in a glass frame, framed in black ash, with a picture of Elvis taken from the 1968 Singer " Comeback Special " , during the " jam session " when Elvis plays with Scotty Moore, D.J.Fontana and others, dressed in the Black leathers.
Insurance valuation, for replacement £1100 !!!
