Description
Hi All, the thinning out of my collection continues with some choice cuts as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting. OK for your consideration we have:
Title: FIVE LIVE YARDBIRDS by THE YARDBIRDS
Cat No: 33 SX 1677 - mono
Issue: Original 1964 issue on the BLACK & BLUE COLUMBIA Label
Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl grades as VG; the vinyl has retained some of its gloss and sheen. The disc has a few wispy and light scratches on both sides so not perfect and it has a few mild handling marks. That said, there are no notable deep or ugly scratches or other marks to the vinyl to report. All in all, this is a VG copy of this LIVE R n B classic.
Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl playback grades as VG; mild audible static at the run-in to both sides. Again some very mild static clicks and pops during the playback but nothing drastic at all. Aside from this, there is little in the way of lessening in the overall sound quality, the vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable and there are no skips or jumps to report. A strong VG.
Label Condition: Ex; just look at the pics. Just a few very light spindle marks other than that there is no damage or other unwanted blemishes at all to the labels. The silver script is clean and legible. The flat-matt labels are fab.
Cover Front: The front cover Grades as VG+; the laminated front is clean and essentially undamaged and has retained its shape very well. The central image is clear and the lamination is good. There are a few creases in the laminate most notably in the area of the spine and the opening edge. All edges are secure; overall a VG example of this sleeve.
Cover Back: EX; the unlaminated back is in VG condition being essentially clean and damage free. The flip-backs are in good shape; the bottom one is lifting at the opening edge for about ½ inch – but this can be secured with ease. The mainly white back is showing a few age related marks near to the opening edge, but it’s much better than the photo.
Spine: VG; the spine is intact, clean with good lamination cover. It has retained its square shape and the text is legible and clear.
Corners: VG; all a little bumped but in pretty good order, the two opening edge corners are a tad rounded off.
Summary: Not perfect but a perfectly acceptable and playable copy of this live R n B classic album. There is no doubt in my mind that such albums will get more difficult to find in the future so grab a copy while you can. Why have a reissue when the real deal is here!
Postage: With regard to postage, all records will be posted in 12” Defenda- corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me. Finally, I offer a no-nonsense refund if you’re not delighted with your purchase, less postage of course, which hopefully provides you with sufficient confidence to take a shot, and if you do, good luck.
