Description

Hi All, I’ve sorted out a few more choice cuts in the collection for your consideration as well as a few ‘vinyl staples’ for the discerning new entrant to vinyl collecting.  For your consideration we have:

Title: REVOLVER by THE BEATLES

Cat No: PMC 7009 – MONO

Issue: Original 1966 1st issue on the B/Y PARLOPHONE Label; Correct Gramophone rim-text and Sold In the UK label text

Matrix:  Side 2 XEX 606 -1 (1st mono press)

Vinyl Condition visual: The vinyl grades as VG+; the vinyl has retained some of its gloss and a little sheen but it is quite presentable. There is one noticeable scratch on side 1 across Taxman, aside from this there are just a few very light scratches and light marks to each side, these are all non-feelable and do not affect play.  Overall the disc is clean and all in all, it’s a very presentable copy of what is a wonderful, elusive and desirable 1st mono issue and, as such it is most worthy of the VG+ grade.

Vinyl Condition Playback: The vinyl grades as VG; fairly quiet at the run-in to both sides, thereafter it plays back with some mild and low level static, clicks and pops in places.  Essentially the music covers most of this and even with headphones on you can turn-off your mind relax and float down stream, it’s a decent listen.  Overall there’s little lessening in sound quality apart from the tracks Here, There and everywhere and Yellow Sub; the static and clicks are more prominent on these tracks so please note this. Even between tracks for most part it’s quite silent and pleasing.  The vinyl sits perfectly flat on the turntable and plays through with no skips or jumps.

Label Condition: VG+; Very nice labels showing just the bare minimum of spindle marks.  No writing or damage whatsoever to the labels and all the text is clean and clear.

Cover Front: The front cover grades as VG+; the laminated front is clean and essentially undamaged retaining its shape well.  The central image is clear and the white is turning the more familiar shade of Cream.  The lamination is fine with just some mild creases in a few places and mild ring-wear is evident when held to the light. There are no notable creases/splits to report at all and the top and bottom edges are surprisingly in good order with good lamination and hardly any rubbing at all.  Overall it’s a pretty decent example of this sleeve.

Cover Back: EX; the unlaminated G&L back is in EX condition being clean and essentially damage free.  One or two very minor age related blemishes some very light ring-wear. The flip-backs are superb, secure and very clean.

Spine: EX; super condition, the spine is intact, clean with good lamination cover. It has retained a good square shape, and the pinched corners are evident.  All the text is very legible and clear – you couldn’t wish for better at this grade.

Corners: VG; very mild knocks 3 of 4 are still quite square and sharp.

Opening Edge: A few bumps and dings from normal use along the opening edge and a few light ripples, but overall it’s pretty straight.

Inserts/Other: NIL

Summary:  Another one that was a sheer joy to play and to listen to whilst studying the sleeve; it’s moments like this that remind me of just why I hunted down albums all these years.  If you’re in the market for a 1st press mono 606-1 Revolver – here is your chance to grab a very playable copy.  It’s not mint, but overall as a package it is VG and I’m sure the new owner will be delighted with it.

Postage:   With regard to postage, all records will be posted in 12” Defenda- corrugated mailers so they should arrive as they left me. Finally, I offer a no nonsense refund if you’re not delighted with your purchase, less postage of course, which hopefully provides you with sufficient confidence to take a shot, and if you do, good luck.
