Description

ORKUSTRA 'Adventures In Experimental Electric Orchestra From The San Francisco Psychedelic Underground' Double LP (US, Mexican Summer, Catalogue #MEX 019) Brand new/unplayed copy of numbered, limited Double LP vinyl edition (edition of 1000 copies only!) on the Mexican Summer label of rare and unreleased legendary recordings of San Francisco based experimental psychedelic collective The Orchestra, featuring David LaFlamme (who would later go on to fame as leader of the much beloved band It's A Beautiful Day) and Bobby Beausoleil, who achieved notoriety and fame as an affiliate of Charles Manson and the "Family" who was subsequently convicted of the murder of Gary Hinman (another Manson associate.) Beausoleil also (in pre-Manson times) was a band member with Arthur Lee (of Love band fame) in the later's pre-Love Grass Roots band) and would become more well known in the late 70s/early 80s as the composer of music for Kenneth Anger's film Lucifer Rising.

(NOTE: NUMBERED/LIMITED EDITION OF 1000 COPIES ONLY!)

'The first ever record release for this myth-ridden 1966-1967 band, whose members would go on to various sorts of fame. Orkustra took Bay Area eclecticism to its extreme, and parts of the performances are closer to modernist classical and avant folk, than rock'n'roll. As Bobby Beausoleil suggests in his liner notes, an equal share of the spotlight belongs to David LaFlamme, whose electrified violin is the lead instrument on most tracks. There is also an amplified oboe.' - Patrick Lundborg/Acid Archives
