THIS RECORD IS IN A GREAT CONDITION

THE STORY OF THIS RECORD

IS, THAT I AM JOURNALIST, AND RESEARCH MUSIC.

I LIVE IN THE SAME STATE AS ORLANDIVO HERE IN BRAZIL. (SANTA CATARINA)

AND ABOUT 60 MILES DISTANCE...

AND AT THAT TIME, HE WOULD WALK AROUND MY TOWN WITH FRIENDS ON RADIOS TO SHOW AND GIVE HIS RECORDS...

THIS ONE WAS OFFERED TO A JOURNALIST.. AS IT SAYS..

"AO JORNALISTA JOAO ELI FRANCISCO

+ 1 TRABALHO DO CONTERRANEO

ORLANDIVO (SIGNATURE)" DATE 27/9/78

"TO THE JOURNALIST JOAO ELI FRANCISCO

+ 1 WORK from your fellow countryman

Orlandivo (SIGNATURE) "DATE 27/09/78

I GOT THIS ONE,

AFTER I FIND OUT THAT A LOCAL RADIO WAS GIVING AWAY ALL THEY´RE RECORDS

I WENT TO TALK TO A OLD JOURNALIST THAT I KNEW AND WORKED THERE AT THAT TIME.

THEY WERE ACCEPTING SMALL DONATIONS AND GIVING AWAY THE RECORDS.

I JUST GOT ALL I COULD CARRY IN MY ARMS, THERE WAS THIS ORLANDIVO RECORD.

TODAY YEARS LATER I ASK MY SELF WHY DIDNT I PUT THOSE RECORDS IN THE CAR, AND WENT ON AGAIN TO CARRY ALL THEM....

THEY NEEDED SPACE...

SO PROBABLLY THIS RECORD WAS NEVER, OR HAD FEW TIMES PLAYED IN RADIO,

BUT AT TIME, HE WAS NOT POPULAR DOWN HERE IN SOUTH (VERY COUNTRY AREA).

SO... IT WAS KEPT FOR YEARS SINCE I FOUND IT.. I HAVE MORE THAN 10K LPS, SO JUST PUT IT ON TO PLAY 3 YEARS AGO

MAYBE THATS THE RECORD´S TIME LIFE.. ALWAYS TOOK CARE..

NOW I JUST OPENED MY RECORD SHOP HERE, SO I NEED SELL THE RARE RECORD TO KEEP BUSINESS GOING ON, GIVE THE CHANCE TO OTHERS TO HAVE THIS GEMM, AND HAVE MONEY TO BUY MORE RECORD LOTS AND THEN KEEP GOIN...

I CAN BUY A NEW ONE JUST TO LISTEN... AND KEEP...

A lost pearl of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB)

When we talk about Brazilian music in 1977 and the release of that year, the logo comes to mind as obvious titles Refavela Gilberto Gil, Morning Bird Bethany, Wild at Heart of Belchior, The Day the Earth Stood Still Raul Seixas and, of course , the Frantic of Frantic.

But if we turn this bag upside down and give a good shake, we will come face to face with an album that had not deserved repercussion or not when it was released today. Incredible partnership that generated the delicious Orlandivo with João Donato.

Orlandivo, just to refresh your memory, it was a parent of samba-rock and João Donato do not need many presentations, your swingado piano (registered trademark musician) speaks for itself.

LP Orlandivo with João Donato brings, in addition to Donato arrangements, participation of emblematic MPB, and sometimes forgotten, as Hélcio Milito on percussion, Sivuca in accordion, Alex Malheiros on bass, Ivan Conti on drums (the last 2 of trio Azymuth) plus many others.

Orlandivo (1977), for Copacabana, released in the middle of the Saturday Night Fever discotheque boom, a weird time to Brazilian popular music, When such things like Bossa Nova was only the vague and distant event, in spite of having this peak only the decade before. Perhaps nobody casette attention to this album by the release time and this is a wonderful demonstration on how to make dancing music with a very good quality.

Joao Donato is in charge of arrangements, delivering Also his undisputed groovy piano playing on Fender Rhodes, organ, piano and clavinet. Additionally, Alex Malheiros and Ivan Conti from Azymuth Were Also in this session, everything detailed at personnel listing, just before tracks. Tracks include:
