Description

Up for auction is a very nice original copy of the self-titled Ornette Coleman album "Ornette!" originally released in the U.S. on Atlantic Records (1378) in 1962.

-Guaranteed original first pressing
-Correct red & purple "white fan" labels
-Still in opened factory shrink wrap
-Mono pressing
-Original Atlantic inner sleeve
-Original laminated paste-down cover
-Heavy, inflexible vinyl
-No UPC/bar code on cover

Condition:
Cover is in very nice condition, having been protected by original shrink wrap.  Lamination looks like it still has a nice shine.  Has some light rubbing to the white back top middle.  Has a couple very small spots on front bottom middle (see photo).  Hint of corner rub.  Shrink wrap has some tears, and has been repaired in places with clear scotch tape.  Some light tape residue on back lower left.  I did not remove the tape so as not to tear the shrink or damage the cover.  Overall, a well-preserved, attractive original.  Grade: Very Good Plus (VG+).

The vinyl is also very nice, still has its original shine.  Looks clean, but has a couple light, superficial hairlines and tiny marks, nothing deep or serious, nothing that can be felt or that affects the quality of the playback.  Labels are clean, unmarked, no spindle trails, indicating little previous play.

Play-Tested:
When played in the recommended Mono Mode, the sound quality is very nice, clean and clear full-bodied fidelity.  No significant distractions, this is really nice sounding original.  Not audiophile perfect, but none of these originals are--still nice.  Grade: a strong Very Good Plus (VG+).
