Description

Don´t let the title fool you into thinking this is a merengue compilation or something like that...Merengue 81 was a great Dominican orquesta that played both merengue and salsa...all of it scorching hot!!! This self titled 1980 album on Alhambra was arranged by two greats: Manolo Gonzalez and trombonist José Meriño with musical direction handled by group leader Jorge Gonzalez. This album is pure goodness, not bad one song in the whole set...but the powerhouse guaguanco "Cachita Quiere Bailar" really takes the cake here!! This is a must have for serious salseros and real collectors ... Don't miss it!!

Tracks:
01-Papa Liborio
02-La Mujer De Ramoncito
03-Fiesta Cibaeña
04-Filomena
05-El Cabo Miguel
06-Cachita Quiere Bailar
07-Feliz Cumpleaños
08-Alegre Cañaveral
