Description
Hello and Welcome. Here is what you are bidding on: TITLE/ARTIST: "SPORTS CAR SONGS FOR BIG WHEELS" - by Oscar Brand on the Elektra Records label (EKL-188) in vintage monaural sound from the early Sixties. CONDITION OF VINYL: VG++ (Light wear - graded visually). CONDITION OF JACKET: VG+ (Covers are beautiful, but bottom seam is mostly split; light wear to edges and corners). RATING BY ALL MUSIC GUIDE: 3 Stars Out of 5. COMMENTARY BY ALL MUSIC GUIDE: "Oscar Brand is one of the stalwart American folksingers, writers, and interpreters. Over the course of his 60-some-year career he has released 93 albums. He roamed the country with Woody Guthrie, concertized with Leadbelly, promoted folk of all kinds like Pete Seeger, and has hosted the Folksong Festival program on New York's WNYC for over 60 years. Many of his recordings contain parodies on single subjects such as holidays, car songs, or political satire. He is well known for his many collections of bawdy songs. Generally the recording style is simple; Brand and his guitar and a few backup players. Brand's records are totally directed toward the songs." SPECIAL FEATURES: This is an excellent Elektra album, completely "off the wall" and unexpected from Brand. In addition to the car-related songs, the back cover notes feature a usable "Sports Car Glossary" divided into Terms (Roger Ward: That part of the hospital where Roger is.) and Cars (Jag: Usually on New Years Eve.) All in all it's very funny and great fun (And DON'T miss the wonderful glossy cover shot). TRACKS: Sports Car Casanova, That's What I Should Have Said, Gran Prix of Monaco, Viva la Mille Miglia, What'll We Do With the Baby-O, Accessories After the Fact, Atomic Hot Rod, Old Crocks to Brighton, The Liar's Club, Rally Song, Classified Ads, Sports Car Heaven, How to Be a Hero Driver, and Beep Beep. SPECIAL NOTES: All of our albums are visually graded, but we will gladly play them to confirm condition. Please email us if you would like that service. RATING SYSTEM: New (sealed in original wrap); Near Mint (very light wear and uniform glossy vinyl appearance; one or two light rubs on jacket surface or corner); VG++ (light wear that is visible but not audible; light wear to jacket edges or corners); VG+ (many marks on record surface that are lightly audible during quiet passages; small splits, marks, or tears on jacket); VG (surface covered with light scuffs or marks that are audible during all but loudest passages; jacket extensively marked, split, or torn: note: we only sell this grade on very rare records).
