Very few recordings in the history of modern music can rightfully lay claim to the title "classic". And then, those that can claim to have initiated a whole new movement in music are even rarer. We proudly present here one such speciment: a veritable Jazz Classic.

Oscar Peterson's 1962 album, Oscar Peterson Plays: West Side Story, features the pianist and his trio with bassist Ray Brown and drummer Ed Thigpen, reinterpreting compositions from the classic 1961 film version of the Broadway musical. This is a highly engaging album that showcases Peterson's trio at their finest, with some truly inventive takes on such songs as "Somewhere," "Tonight," and "Maria."

No other analogue pressing or version of this classic Jazz album - and we mean: ABSOLUTELY NO OTHER; NONE; NADA; ZERO; ZILCH - NONE WILL EVER SOUND AS GOOD AS THIS BEAUTY. This is the version to die for. Unless and until you have heard THIS, you have NEVER heard this Oscar Peterson masterpiece at all. I'll be willing to bet that even the two legendary jazzman would have been shocked to hear this pressing.

·      CONDITION:

·      THE RECORD

 (IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we  grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)

(a)         WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG NEAR MINT. The original luster is very much intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.

(b)         The record comes in a hi-grade MFSL-style PVC inner sleeve

(c)         The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!

(d)         The record is pressed on a beautiful, high-quality, virgin-grade vinyl, which is usually used for audiophile, extended-dynamic-range, half-speed mastered and connoisseur pressings.

(e)         Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!

·      COVER (THIS IS THE ORIGINAL, LAMINATED, GLOSSY COVER):

THE COVER IS NICE --- ABOUT VERY GOOD++ (VG++).

The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:

-       Cover has a partially split top seam (between 2 and 4 inches  / 5 to 10 centimeters)

-       Cover has a partially split bottom seam (less than 1 inch / 2.5 centimeters) [NOTE: DCC pressings are notorious for their weak and frail covers with hypersensitive seams; we reckon than more than 40% of all DCC pressings we've held in our arms had one or more seams splintered]

-       Cover has JUST A HINT of ring wear (nothing significant); On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and  10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 1.

-       Cover has some visible fraying/tattering on the top and bottom seams.

-       Cover has a few tiny wrinkles along the spine   (nothing significant)

-       Minor shelf wear noted on the opening side (nothing significant)

-       Cover shows JUST A HINT of yellowing on back side, apparently from aging.
