Released in 1981, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK features one of the most memorable main themes in film music history. Largely recorded with synthesizers, the futuristic thriller's score was composed by director John Carpenter and Alan Howarth. ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK was the fifth film Carpenter directed and scored (following THE FOG), and it was the second compositional credit for Howarth.The duo would later team up for HALLOWEEN II and BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA, among others. Recorded in Howarth's home studio, the ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK score is a tension-filled thrill ride that should still delight sci-fi and action film fans in 2009.
