OTIS REDDING
Tell The Truth

HERE WE HAVE A SUPERB, UK ATLANTIC/ATCO (2400 018) FIRST PRESSING (July 1970) OF OTIS REDDING'S SENSATIONAL POSTHUMOUS RELEASE "Tell The Truth" - IN BEAUTIFUL, BARELY PLAYED CONDITION AND DELIVERING NEAR MINT AUDIO WITH A TREMENDOUSLY FRESH, RAW AND IMMEDIATE SOUND

Tell the Truth was recorded in 1967, the year of Redding's untimely death, but remained unreleased until 1970.
When a major artist dies, labels can usually be counted on to release anything and everything they had in the can, regardless of quality but in the case of Otis Redding, most of the posthumous releases were of a very high quality indeed and this release is no exception.
Tracks such as "I Got the Will," "Snatch a Little Piece," and "Demonstration" are pure Redding -- frenzied, passionate, relentlessly gritty Memphis soul that makes no concessions to pop tastes.
"Out of Sight" speaks volumes about him -- while others would have been afraid to cover a song written and defined by James Brown, Redding confidently tackles the song with splendid results.
Redding's last major hit, "Dock of the Bay," indicated that had he lived, he would have explored softer, Northern R&B sounds. But on this album, it's pure Memphis all the way

PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL (very thick and chunky) THE CUT IS SURPRISINGLY QUIET BUT EVEN TURNED UP TO A VERY LOUD VOLUME THE AUDIO IS ABSOLUTELY SENSATIONAL
THE LP HAS THE FIRST BLUE/MUSTARD ATCO LABELS
FIRST PRESS MATRIX: 2400018 A

LABELS: CLEAN and BRIGHT with only a couple of light spindles per side. BEAUTIFUL, BARELY PLAYED COPY
VINYL Visual: The surfaces are CLEAN and FRESH with their original DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN. There are one or two superficial light marks but these have NO audio consequence - the playback is SUPERB throughout
VINYL Audio: OUTSTANDING audio - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP, DEEP, RICH SOUND - FANTASTIC RECORD. Plays BEAUTIFULLY throughout to an extremely high standard with NO groove-wear and NO distortion (its barely been played). TREMENDOUS RECORD. There are NO sticks, NO jumps, NO scratches, NO clicks/pops and NO surface noise. Must be graded NEAR MINT for audio. BEAUTIFUL COPY - you will not find one better - VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
SLEEVE: The FULLY TEXTURED cover is CLEAN, BRIGHT and UNMARKED. There is some (very minor) rubbing to the spine and a light crease to the top spine corner again, very minor (please see close-up photos). This sleeve is impossibly difficult to find in decent condition due to its virtual blotting-paper type finish but this copy is SUPERB and easily the best one I have ever seen. EXCELLENT+
