 OTIS SPANN

"STIRS ME UP" b/w "KEEP YOUR HANDS OUT OF MY POCKET"

rare 1964 GREAT HISTORIC BLUES 45 RELEASE pressing 7"

Top Blues beat, from a true legend and talent from the Muddy Waters band! They were related by marriage too. Mike Vernon got Otis over and into the studio for this recoding, and let the hot British apprentices in on it. He was confident Otis would be suitably impressed - even though these young contenders wouldn't have been known to anyone in USA at the time. Little Jimmy Page was a studio session player, and Eric Clapton had renown in London with The Yardbirds. He had played with Sonny Boy Williamson, and the band had just begun a residency taking over from The Rolling Stones. Only 2 singles under their belt and a live recording from The Marquee. However this was also a special session to Eric, and he played enormously well alongside Jimmy. I wonder if Sonny Boy is on harmonica also? It turns out to be a VERY rare early recorded document with these brilliant players together, and the rarest Eric Clapton performance - notably from his earliest days!   This sold very few copies, and is quite rare and hard to find now.  It's in decent condition too.
A great slice of blues beat.
