Comments: Chicago based label, located on same street as Chess. This obscure 45 is the one and only by this artist and one of two on this label. Co-producer Floyd Smith, working out of Chicago, had a few 45’s released on his own, as well as composing for Tyrone Davis and Major Lance on some of their Dakar releases. Here we have a strong copy with two tracks of Northern Soul, A-side up-tempo with a prominent guitar figure and discreet strings, while the B-side mid-ish with both horns and strings. Composer Otis Brown had cut his own version of ‘Somebody Help Me’ on LaJuna back in 1965.
