Description

Here's an original 8" x 13" printed program for a 1926 concert tour of The Savoy Orpheans Augmented Symphonic Orchestra, directed by Debroy Somers.  Inside the ornate front and back covers are 6 two-sided pages of information, plus two extra items laid in -- a photo of the orchestra and a flyer about a "Sunshine Song" being sold to benefit poor children.  The contents include an itinerary; an introduction to the orchestra; a list and description of each song to be played; an HMV advertisement for records by the Savoy Orpheans, the Savoy Orpheans Augmented Orchestra, the Savoy Havana Band, and the Savoy Tango Band; a personnel list that includes Arthur Lally (see fifth picture); and more.
This program has much wear around the edges of each page -- creases and tears -- and some paper loss to the front cover at the lower left-hand and lower right-hand corners.  The front cover has nearly separated from the spine.  The interior pages are in better condition, but each of them has a one-inch tear at the bottom center of the page (not affecting the text because the margins are wide).  The photo of the orchestra is creased and torn on the right margin, and a small tear extends one-quarter inch into the image from the right margin.  The staples are rusty.  Despite all these flaws, it's still a handsome item.
I'll ship this rare item only by priority mail.
