Original US LP released in 1969 on the Deep Groove Impulse Records Label. Cat: AS9178. This album has a gatefold sleeve.  

Over the next several months we have the pleasure of listing a spectacular vinyl collection of over 6000 LP's. This collection consisting of mostly Jazz but also Blues, Folk ,Rock, Soundtracks and Classical was kept in amazing condition. Most of the records were played once, transferred to tape for listening and then stored away in cliplock sealed bags in specially made cupboards. The overall condition of this collection is sublime to say the least and whatever items I list as Near Mint you can be assured that it was probaly only ever played once!! Over the last few weeks you may have noticed some of the lovely jazz & rock titles I have listed, these are just the tip of the iceberg here. I hope you enjoy seeing these listings as much as I have in offering them. 

Ornette Coleman had always retained a childlike sense of innocence about his music, so his choice for a drummer on this date may have been, in retrospect, not a surprise -- but it was a decision that stirred major controversy in jazz circles at the time and continued to do so for decades afterwards. That drummer was his son, Ornette Denardo, at the time 12 years old. Jazz fans and critics, accustomed to a level of professionalism even in the freest playing situations, found his crude, flailing drum style just this side of ridiculous and also complained that it gave ammunition to conservative observers who had always proclaimed about free jazz that "anyone could do it." Listened to anew, however, one is impressed with the freshness of his sound, as well as his avoidance of the ruts (perhaps because of his inability to do so?) of other drummers who were more content to follow an easy lead and play by rules buried deep enough that they were unaware of obeying them. Which is to say that Ornette Denardo sounds just fine. If anything, the controversy obscured other fine aspects of the session, including the superb playing of recent Coleman associate Dewey Redman, whose vocalized sound on tenor sax provided a wonderful, gritty foil for the altoist.

There are no sign of spindle marks on labels. There are a few small pencil marks  on B-side label.  Record has a few very light scuff marks and is in Excellent condition. Heavy full gloss gatefold cover has a few light marks on front, all seams are fully intact with no sign of tears or deterioration. Cover is in Near Mint condition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.

Post methods within Australia: All records are posted via Australia Post. Within Australia all items come with a tracking number.

Post method for overseas: All parcels are sent via Australia Post and are sent on a standard airmail service. There are no tracking numbers on these items. If you require a tracking number the item will have to be sent as an insured item which incurs a further postage fee.
