Description

Ornette Coleman - Something Else! The Music Of...

(Vogue/ Contemporary LAC 12170 UK Mono LP 1958)

This is a UK Mono 1st pressing LP. It has a fully laminated sleeve which has a flpback at the top & bottom of the rear sleeve. The sleeve is printed by "West Brothers". It comes with its original generic polythene lined company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has yellow "Vogue/ Contemporary" labels. These are deep grooved also. The 1st press matrix numbers are VMGT-1430-2B and VMGT-1431-1B.

This is a genuine UK 1st pressing of this rare early 1960's Free Jazz/ Hard Bop/ Contemporary Jazz LP. These are quite rare. Unfortunately, this is a wll played copy. However, it is still a serviceable audio copy. I have some other rare & collectable 1960's, early 1970's UK and USA Jazz LP's for sale too. So please see my other listings.

Sleeve: There is some moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is mild, more moderate to moderate rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. There is light, mild or very mild fading to the "white" of the sleeve to a varying degree. There is mild to more moderate fading to the spine area, and to the sleeve opening edge area too. There is a 2 cm area of more moderate rubbing wear at the centre of the spine, and at the very top of the spine too. The spine text is completely legible. There is some mild, very mild or more moderate ringwear on some areas. Overall, Good+ condition

Vinyl: There are about 5 light hairline surface marks on Side 2. These measure from 1 cm to 4 cm in length. There are a few small & light surface hairline marks that go around the groove slightly on one track on Side 2 too. There are some light, mild, more moderate or moderate surface sleeve rubs, or surface rub marks, which can only be seen under a strong light. The sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. Overall, Good condition. The labels are in Excellent condition & show light or very mild spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good condition. There is some light, mild or more moderate ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits. There is a small tear at the die-cut centre area on one side only.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good overall & Very Good+ in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some quieter places. There are a couple of areas of light or very mild intermittent clicks on Side 1. These do not last too long. They are very much in the background too. There is a mild click near the start of Side 2. There are 4 or 5 mild or very mild clicks two-thirds of the way through Side 2. Overall, a serviceable audio copy.
