Orquesta Carioca - Rumbeando
Hispavox S20.204 (1979)
This album is a bit of a legend among breaks collectors; not too much is known about the origins of this orchestra yet there are three known releases (Spanish, Australian and apparently Greek), all of which are very hard to come by. I only found this recently and just by luck I scored a second copy (different sleeve) 2 weeks later, so I am now selling the first.
The Holy Grail status is well deserved: this album is absolutely PACKED with loops and breaks that are just ready to be chopped up, sampled or played out. While many songs are based on easy listening tunes, the musicians have managed to turn virtually EVERY song intro here into a sureshot banger. Nico Gomez got nothing on these guys. Standout break is on the same level as the Fausto Papetti-break which is a hip hop classic. Then you got 'Natzu Batzuba' which sounds like a moog on acid. This LP could have been one of those Ultimate Breaks & Beats albums, if only it would have been available in the USA at the time.
Fun fact: the Australian release of this LP sold under a different name: Carioca Carnival Orchestra - Carnival in Rio.

Vinyl: VG++ (looks and sounds hardly played, check out the snippets to get the idea)
Sleeve: VG++ (seal still wrapped around most of the sleeve, a tiny mark on back of the cover, image shows yellow wear of the cellophane wrap)
