redgarnett Store ITEM DESCRIPTION:
This beautiful LP – an early 200g issue – from RCA (630.001, French pressing, plum/silver label, mono – no stereo edition exists, laminated flipback sleeve, original inner sleeve included) features conductor Fernand Oubradous leading his eponymous Chamber Orchestra and several of the day’s leading soloists in a captivating collection of concertos for diverse instruments by Antonio Vivaldi, recorded in Paris in the early 1950s.
The exact contents are as follows, all works by Antonio Vivaldi:
Concerto in F Major for Violin, 2 Horns, 2 Oboes, 1 Bassoon and Orchestra
> with Robert Gendre, violin
Concerto in C Major for 2 Flutes and Orchestra
> with Jean-Pierre Rampal and Robert Hériché, flutes
Concerto in G minor for Flute and Orchestra “La Nuit”
> with Jean-Pierre Rampal, flute
Concerto Grosso No. 10 in C minor for Strings
There are insightful liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Gerard Michel of l’Académie du Disque Français, printed in French only. The striking cover design is uncredited.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is mild ringwear and discoloration to the rear panel, but really that is all. There are no seamsplits, bends, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.
PLEASE NOTE:
This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
