PATRICK HERNANDEZ

SIDE A:     BORN TO BE ALIVE (3:23)

SIDE B:     TOO MANY PEOPLE

MEGARARE and Hard-To-Find original RCA Records very first Stereo PROMOTIONAL press released by RCA Records in Chile in 1979, made and distributed by Industria De Radio Y Televisión S.A. (IRT Records), licensed from CBS Inc., USA, catalog number LFS-001, with hand etched matrix numbers LFS-001-A CD in Side A and LFS-001-B MSM-CD in Side B, with black/silver RCA Records labels with colored “dog” and solid center. It’s interesting to notice that in the deadwax of both sides it’s written the exact day of pressing, “16-8-79” (August 16th of 1979)!!! Yes, Sirs, ANOTHER FIND from Chile!!!

Born To Be Alive” was originally released in France in 1979 and it became an immediate worldwide hit, in April 1979 it was released in USA and the same year we could see this legendary single released here in Chile, with “Too Many People” as Side B just like the original US press and as you can see we also got an UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, made of a single piece of hard paper folded in the middle, with back cover pasted on the flips of front cover. Front and back covers keep the same GREEN-TINTED design, a picture of Patrick Hernandez, with his name and song titles written in English at top edge and RCA Records logo and catalog number at top right corner. In labels, song titles are written in English only, with full credits for songwriters and producer. If you know the discography of Patrick Hernandez you could have already noticed that picture of him in this picture sleeve is taken from the picture sleeve of 1979 French issue of single “Disco Queen”. In front cover you can see the rounded IRT promo stamp “DISCO PROMOCIONAL – PROHIBIDA SU VENTA” (Promotional Record – Sale Forbidden). So, here you have the chance to get and own this MEGARARE PRESS of this classic Disco hit “Born To Be Alive” by Patrick Hernandez, with UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE ONLY USED IN CHILE, a record almost never seen and in GREAT CONDITION!!! WOW!!! A MUST TO HAVE!!!

The cover was already described and it’s in EX- or EX condition, with minimal wear in corners, light ring marks and creases, some faint blemishes and writings, but all seams are solid, no seam splits. The record is in nice VG+ or EX- condition both sides, glossy and clean, with many soft scuffs and light hairlines, which don’t affect play at all. Labels are in great EX- or EX condition both sides, clear and clean, with some spindle hole wear and white papers with writings glued in both sides and writings on the labels but hard to see at first sight. The sound is in strong EX or EX+ condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, virtually no background noise (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), with only some minimal occasional soft crackles here and there, barely audible, more evident in the last seconds of each song, which of course don’t cause any distraction from the great sound this record keeps from the beginning to the end. Overall, this is a great record in this MEGARARE PROMOTIONAL CHILEAN PRESS with UNIQUE GREEN-TINTED COVER and UNIQUE PICTURE SLEEVE, with a very nice glossy look, clean labels and still superb sound quality after about 45 years, which won’t disappoint anyone and will satisfy any serious collector who knows the real level of rarity of this Chilean press, a record almost never seen and now auctioned here in eBay in GREAT CONDITION!!! Yes, Sirs, what a FIND!!! Click on the pictures to enlarge and see the labels and cover in detail. WOW!!!

Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…

Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile

We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.

MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.

NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.

EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK

We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
