PAUL CHAMBERS “Whims of Chambers” RVG, P, DG, LAM, Blue Note 1534 Mono Vinyl
This is the Deep Groove, “RVG”-etched, Laminated Cover, “P” pressing of PAUL CHAMBERS’ “Whims of Chambers” on the “47 West 63rd New York 23” labels of Blue Note BLP 1534. Musicians include Paul Chambers – bass, Donald Byrd – trumpet, John Coltrane - tenor saxophone, Kenny Burrell – guitar, Horace Silver – piano, Philly Joe Jones - drums.
VINYL plays with low to medium level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks. Plays very well overall. Ensemble sections are clear, dynamic and strong. No distortion. No skips. Good gloss. Many hairline marks, none feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The Deep Groove “47 West 63rd New York 23” labels show some fading and spindle wear. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in quite good condition, corners worn. Black Marker writing top left corner. “Vintage” No peeling. Top seam shows some cracking, spine is solid, cracking and 4” tape on bottom seam. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS, INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows wear, marker writing, tape on lower seam and green tape on right side 2/3 way up. This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
