2TENOR STUFF" - Paul Gonsalves/Harold Ashby - Columbia 33SX 1379 - Mono original UK pressing. - WOW!!!!!!!! what a MEGA RARE album to find. Superbly recorded to their usual high standard by Columbia, far exceeeding the quality of it's US counterpart, this is a MAMMOTH find indeed, it has been literally years since I last saw a copy!!!!!! - In addition, this is one outstanding and exciting performance, by these two great tenorists, Paul Gonsalves, well know to us all for so long, and the rarely heard, but equally superb, Harold Ashby, gladly at last bought to our attention by his first LP here, "Born to Swing". Brilliantly accompanied by the legendary Sir Charles Thompson on piano, Aaron Bells stalwart bass work and the brilliant Jo Jones in the drum chair, this is not only an album, it is a GREAT album. The flip back cover is in great shape with only a little discoloration to the back and very minor edge wear. The disc is superb, gleaming clean and shiny with immaculate labels showing almost no signs of playtime. Trax from this great ensemble are: "You came along from out of nowhere", "Swallowing the blues", the now classic Gonsalves original, "London Broil", "Midnight sun", "Squeeze me", "Blue skies", "Jeeps blues" and "You can depend on me".
