Paul McCartney and Wings - 'Venus And Mars'. PCTC 254
Paul McCartney and Wings FULLY COMPLETE 1975 UK 1st UNDOCUMENTED CONTRACT PRESSING of the 'Venus And Mars' LP. Released on the 30th May 1975, this comes complete with ALL extras - custom inner sleeve, 2 posters and 2 stickers.
As can be seen in the pictures below both labels feature a prominent ridge which is unlike any standard UK issue. This denotes a contract pressing of some kind produced by another record company which I am unable to 100% identify, perhaps Decca Records? Contract pressings of 'Venus And Mars' are currently undocumented in the UK Rare Record Guide, popsike.com or any other source on the internet. This is NOT a foreign pressing as both labels state 'Made in Gt. Britain'. Another usual feature is one label appears glossy and smooth in appearance the other appears matt and textured, very strange.
This is an incredible rarity of which very few will exist. I have never seen another in years of collecting.
The matrix numbers are:
Side 1: PCTC 254-A No other digits.
Side 2: PCTC 254-B No other digits.
The vinyl is in VERY GOOD+ condition on side one and VERY GOOD condition on side two.
Both labels are in MINT- condition.
The sleeve is in VERY GOOD++ condition.
The inner sleeve is in VERY GOOD condition. Seam split to one edge and tape repair.
The posters are in MINT- condition.
The stickers are in VERY GOOD+/EXCELLENT condition. One has a fold.
