Description

This is  BALAKLAVA by PEARLS BEFORE SWINE, 1st Press original vinyl LP.

This 1st press release is documented on the DISCOGS website and I purchased this in the UK in the early 1970s. The DISCOGS website documents this as an Italian release, although the cover mentions distribution for West Germany.

The LP is an original  ESP first pressing, distributed on the BASE RECORD label, numbered ESPS 1075, and the matrix numbers in the vinyl runout are:

  • Side 1: ESPS 1075 A
  • Sid2 2: ESPS 1075 B

I use the "Record Collectors Grading System" which can be viewed on the Record Collector website.

I use "+" and "-" to provide a more precise grading, where a record sits between 2 grades.

I only use MINT for new, unplayed records.

VINYL

During play test, it  played like a new record, superbly quiet between tracks, and no audio issues - and is hence rated NM for audio.

Visually the vinyl has no marks, and the record looks like new, and is hence rated NM for visual appearance.

The record label has no spindle marks.

COVER

The cover is unlaminated, and has some ageing spots, although these are hardly noticeable due to the black back cover, and the multi-coloured front cover.

The top and bottom edges are excellent, showing very little wear, the spine has some wear spots, but all the text is readable.

Otherwise it is in excellent shape - please see photos.

LYRIC SHEET

The original lyric sheet is included, and only has a small number of ageing spots, but still feels very crisp - please see photos.

The record will be posted in a MusicMAX STRONG LOCKTAB  RECORD MAILER, with 2 x stiffeners.
