1972/German/Bacillus bellaphon Records BLPS 19090….. here’s a clean original pressing of this rare Symphonic Prog Rock lp . Lots of gushing Hammond, moog and mellotron. The cover is in M- condition with slightly bumped corners, otherwise the cover is clean and solid with no splits or delete. The vinyl is in glossy M- like new condition. The record looks and plays clean with clean fidelity. Please check my listings for other rock and psych lp’s. Good luck and thanks for looking!

This is the first album of one of the best German Krautrock- Symphonic group, Pell Mell. Originally released in 1972 on Bacillus/ Bellaphon Records Marburg saw an unique combination of psychedelic and progressive sounds, complex and lyrical with subtle classical touches handled in a manner rivalling the best Italians of the era. (The Crack In The Cosmic Egg). Colourful, swirling Hammond organ, violin played by Thomas Schmitt with great virtuosity, mellotron, flute and guitar characterized Pell Mells sound.
The opening piece "The Clown and the Queen" - one of the albums highlights - blasts the ear canals with the boisterous power of the Hammond organ and "wild" singing. The adaptation of Czech composer Friedrich Smetanas "Moldau" is of timeless beauty and melancholy, resting in itself, carried by violin and Mellotron.
"Friend", the last title on the first side, really puts the foot down, until the sound of a lovely flute is heard all of a sudden, followed by polyphonic singing in the style of Gentle Giant and a furiously played organ setting the tone in the end. Side 2 begins with "City Monster", reflecting the multifaceted atmosphere in a large city and ending in a bombastic final. "Alone" takes you back to the early Black Sabbath and their doom- metal- sound. Impressive, ominous and fierce! The changes in theme have everything on offer - from a heavy up to a subtle and passionate violin solo - another highlight and the finale of a first class debut album. A highlight!

GRADING
MINT: I consider only New Unplayed or Sealed items.
NM or M- or Mint Minus is the same to me, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.
EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.
VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have a few minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.
VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches. If I list a rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
