Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years! 1st UK pressing of Pentangle's 1972 Solomans Seal album  on the Reprise labels   This album is complete with the original 1st issue unlaminatred cover,  and original lyric inner!! The MacNeil press cover is strong and very straight with no creases. (Note: There are ripples in the cover which is common on these original 1st issues and was like this when I originally purchased it from new over 44 years ago) The audio is truly stunning through out! The audio is graded at Near  as Mint in my opinion! (The best sounding copy that you could find in my opinion) No loud constant clicks or pops!
44 years old like this! Read the full full description below!

Solomon's Seal
is an album recorded in 1972 by folk-rock band Pentangle.

It was the last album recorded by the original line-up, before the band split in 1973. Jacqui McShee has stated that it is her favourite Pentangle album.

The album title refers to the Seal of Solomon — a mythical signet ring with magical powers, sometimes associated with the pentagram symbol adopted by Pentangle.

Solomon's Seal was recorded at Sound Techniques studio, London, between February and March 1972. Pentangle's contract with Transatlantic had expired and, amid a dispute with Transatlantic over royalties, the band had switched allegiance to Warner/Reprise, who had been their U.S. distributor.

The album was released in September 1972, to coincide with the start of Pentangle's new tour.

However, by the start of 1973, the band had split and sales of the album were disappointing, leaving the band members still paying off their debts, against the album's advance royalties, into the early 1980s.

The album opens with their version of Cyril Tawney's song of a sailor's lost love: "Sally Free and Easy".

Unlike its usual rendition as a sea shanty, Pentangle treat this to a slow bluesy rhythm.

The Vinyl
On initial visual inspection the vinyl looks superb and I can't see or feel any scratches or marks that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all! Any marks that could possibly be seen would be light whypsy surface scuffs and sleeve removal type only.. Amazingly,  This lays perfectly flat on the turntable and are free from any warping. (Note! I have double checked this) The vinyl looks superb, still retaining its original glossy sheen from new. Only In strong light could possibly any or very (very) few surface marks be seen caused by the vinyl been slid in and out of its sleeve. Note: (no) deep needle scratches that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops at all!

The Audio Quality
I have played the vinyl prior to listing on a top system at very loud volume! The audio is superbe cristal clear and very vibrant throughout! Top audio seperation on all frequencies only heard like this on early original 1st pressings! (Probably the best sounding copy that I have heard stunningly vibrant and clean sounding copy, very very rare to find like this) Importantly there were no loud constant clicks/ticks, pops or any jumps truly awesome and very rare for a 1st pressing. The audio is graded at Near Mint in my opinion!

PLEASE NOTE! I always add this disclaimer! I have played this album prior to listing as usual and have given my honest opinion on the audio quality. Please remember this is a 44 years old original vinyl (not a reissue) Please allow for the odd static/crackle but importantly nothing consistant through out the audio! Please remember  that this would have been originally played on a system that is 44 years old!
All indications i.e. that this vinyl has (not) been overplayed and in fact looks barely ever played in my personal opinion and the audio quality superbe on all frequencies.

The labels
This features the "Reprise" labels. These are superbe just minimal spider trails only can be seen, (even when angled to the light) and little if (no) spindle ware! This vinyl has had just minimal play only in my personal opinion!

The Record Sleeve
This is the original plain white paper record sleeve. No splits or tears very clean indeed with just light creasing with age!  Any marks or wear is very minor worth to mention. The vinyl is now always stored seperately from the sleeve.

The cover

The original 1st issue MacNeil Press printed Textured cover England. Textured, un-laminated  cover is superbe!  and very fragile is rarely seen in decent condition like this one. There are (no) edge splits or tears.  (Points to note: There is rippling on the cover as seen in the photos which is common on this 1st issued cover and has been like this since purchased from new) The spine is lovely and  square   A truly superbe example rarely seen like this.!  No real nasty creases.  Any imperfections or indents are very minor and are not really noticed unless looked for in my opinion. Must be at least Excellent in my opinion rarely ever seen like this after 44 years!

The Insert
This is complete with the original thin paper lyric insert, light creasings with age!
