Now this is really something! The 4th tape compilation from the Swedish indiepop fanzine PET SOUNDS. All volumes were limited to a mere 50-90 copies only, which makes them virtually impossible to find...
The last Pet Sounds tape is a real treat that starts and ends with THE CARDIGANS (first demo version of "Rise & Shine" and the impossible-to-find "Backwards" which apparently was only to be found on the few demos the band sent to UK indie labels in 1992). It continues with two very rare EGGSTONE tracks recorded live and acoustic for a local radio station – "All Alone" can not be found anywhere else.
The four-track live bit from EASY is nothing but brilliant – recorded in their hometown of Gothenburg, it features exclusive tracks that they basically never ever played live before or after. Especially "Flamingo 5" is a gem, probably their best song.
However, the real sensation of this tape is "End of The Tunnel" from SPLEEN. It's nothing less than a smash pop hit, in the same vein as The Wannadies' "You & Me Song". Personally I find it astonishing this band never really "happened" – apparently they got signed to Sony, but got their contract ripped before they started recording their first single... The band consisted of members from Dorian Gray and Pushtwangers, and they were a fantastic live act with genius pop tunes. Some of the songs later appeared in the setlist for the re-formed Dorian Gray. Probably the only chance to get hold of this should-have-been-a-classic.
