PETE BROWN & PIBLOKTO! ~ THOUSANDS ON A RAFT LP

Original 1970 U.K. first issue stereo pressing released on the Harvest label SHVL 782. 

Description :

Very rare and hard to find prog psych classic.

Best known for his collaborations with Jack Bruce, Brown also worked with The Battered Ornaments, formed his own group Pete Brown & Piblokto!, and worked with Graham Bond and Phil Ryan.

Brown formed Pete Brown and His Battered Ornaments in 1968 and in 1969 the band recorded two albums; A Meal You Can Shake Hands With In The Dark and Mantlepiece, with a line up including Pete Bailey (percussion), Charlie Hart (keyboards), Dick Heckstall Smith (sax), George Kahn (sax), Roger Potter (bass), Chris Spedding (guitar) and Rob Tait (drums). Brown then suffered the ignominy of being thrown out of his own band, the day before they were due to support The Rolling Stones at Hyde Park. Brown's vocals were then removed from Mantlepiece and re-recorded by Chris Spedding and the band renamed The Battered Ornaments.

After the Battered Ornaments, Brown formed Pete Brown & Piblokto!, which had several line ups and issued two classic albums; Thousands On A Raft and Things May Come And Things May Go But The Art School Dance Goes On Forever plus three singles, before disbanding in 1971.

Condition ~ Vinyl :

The super clean vinyl is in stunning NEAR MINT condition with just the very faintest signs of use.

Plays superbly throughout.

Condition ~ Sleeve :

The stunning laminated Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold sleeve is in EXCELLENT shape with just very light overall wear and a light crease in the top right corner but no splits, tears or writing. 

Condition ~ Labels :

Both sides are virtually perfect showing only light spindle wear. No writing.

Comes complete with the original Harvest inner sleeve which is in great shape with no splits, tears or writing.
