I am selling off my entire collection ex-pro DJ so check out my other stuff. This is a tough decision to sell this but take a look at my front room: I need the cash and I need the space.

Up for auction this week is a scarce SHUT UP AND DANCE 12", yes the famous PETER BOUNCER and I'M RAVING I'M RAVING .... Possibly the most famous Old Skool classic piano anthem in the world!!

Hauled off the shelves at the 11th hour as the sample from Mark Cohn's 2Walking In Memphis" wasn't cleared, the agreement being they could only sell what was pressed at that time. this made it instantly collectable worldwide, even better because it's such a terrific track that still sounds as fresh today.

This is in COLLECTOR'S CONDITION.

THE IMPACT OF THE WALKING IN MEMPHIS SAMPLE WAS FELT SO PROFOUND THAT SHUT UP AND DANCE WERE TO TO PUT OUT RAVING IM RAVING.

THIS WAS MASSIVE PROMOTION FOR DJ'S AND RAVERS WORLDWIDE, AND THE 12" WAS PRESSED. I VISITEDTHE HQ TO REVIEW THE PRESSING AND TAKE A COUPLE OF COPIES BACK FOR FILE. I FOUND THE A&R MANAGER SUICIDAL, IN THE CORNER WAS A MAN SIZED STACK OF 12"S.

'THAT'S NO WAY TO STACK RECORDS' I ADMONISHED AND THEN I LEARNED THE TRUTH. THEY HAD FAILED TO ASK MARK COHN IF HE COULD RELEASE THE VOCAL SAMPLE, A CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION THAT COULD SEE THE WHOLE OF THE RECORD COMPANY WALKING THE CORPORATE PLANK.

MARK COHN HADN'T REFUSED PERMISSION, HE JUST HADN'T BEEN ASKED - AND THE ERROR WAS ABOUT TO BE BURIED AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE - WHEN HE WAS APPROACHED, IT WAS AFTER THE RAVING IM RAVING HAD ALREADY BEEN PRESSED AND THERE WAS A LATER AGREEMENT TO SELLL WHAT HAD BEEN PRESSED AND DISTRIBUTED AS LONG AS NO MORE WENT INTO PRODUCTION.

'WE HAVE TO TAKE THEM OFF THE SHELVES', WAS THE IMMEDIATE CORPORATE ORDER AFTER ONLY 12 HOURS OF MAKING THE SHELVES IN THE FIRST PLACE

HOW MANY PROMOS SURVIVED THE ORDER TO DESTROY IS NOT KNOWN BUT I WALKED AWAY WITH TWO - NOW YOU CAN HAVE ONE. IN MINT CONDITION! FEATURES THE LABEL THAT WERE NEVER ATTACHED TO THE CENTRES (SEE PIC) THESE ARE FREEFLOATING WITHIN THE SLEEVE. THIS WAS KEPT IN COOL DRY CONDITIONS AND IS GUARANTEED UNPLAYED.
