Description

This is an auction for a rare LP, Peter Grimes, Benjamin Britten, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.

This was released by Decca records in 1959 and has catalogue number SXL2150/1/2.  This is the 1st pressing with a groove running the circumference of the label, also known as WBg, wide band grooved. This is stereophonic. Please check the pictures for clarification.

Condition: The red plastic outer sleeve comes in superb condition, not often I say this but I really can not find fault with it. The few very light dirt marks just seen will clean completely clean of the plastic surface. Being ultra fussy, as usual, the top left corner has a tiny crack to the plastic, perhaps 2mm and only seen under the closest of examinations. The rounded corners, spine edge and other edges are in superb condition, no edge buffing, peeling or discolouring. The rear is superb and a s new, the centre is also faultless with no splits or marks seen on the inner plastic sleeve holders. If graded I suppose Near Mint+ would be fair. You will not find this in any better condition, outstandiing for 50+ years old.

This comes with its three original ''Decca FFSS' inner sleeves which are in fine condition, no edge splits or discolouring.

This also comes with its two original booklets which are in fine condition, no discolouring etc.

All labels look immaculate and new, Under closer examination one or two tiny spindle trails can be seen on most sides, a couple of sides look completely unplayed. The centre hole is just about perfect on all sides with the lightest touch possible of fraying just seen on a couple of labels, being ultra fussy, fact is they look new, please check the pictures, superb labels.

The vinyl retains its brand new shine and looks immaculate, Under closer examination, a strong light,  a couple of very, very faint ghost marks can be seen on side four and a couple of tiny feather scratches can be also be seen. Fact is these look brand new, most sides look completely mint. The mentioned ghost marks and feather scratches are, of course, completely non-audible and, as stated, only seen under the closest of examinations. The audio, as expected, is simply superb. Playing with very little, if any, lessening in sound quality. No distortion, fading or dragging heard whatsoever. Certainly not suffering any reduction in sound quality due to wear and just about as good as you can find this. Graded at an ultra strict Near Mint. Most sides certainly look completely mint, with all sides looking new and having superb audio.

Superb sleeve, superb inners, superb booklets, superb labels, played a couple of times only, fantastic audio, superb looking and a true collectors item. You will not find this 51 year old record in any better condition.
