Description
I will declare a lower amount on the customs form for all countries so as to avoid/decrease high import charges. However, in the case of the EU all purchases are subject to VAT which eBay collect at point of sale. No shipping to Russia currently.
Peter Hammill : Fool's Mate A-2U / B-1U 1st Press Charisma Pink Scroll Label 1971
This first pressing plays to a very high standard for the vast majority. There are some hairlines on the record but there are no scratches resulting in scratches etc. Overall the clarity and depth of the audio is superb and there are only a very small number of minor ticks and some light static here and there. Not much static at all truth be told.
The textured gatefold is in excellent condition with only some light wear on the corners, hardly anything else. The original sleeve is in excellent shape also.

Visual description
The vinyl is in excellent order and still has a strong glossy look with no obvious marks or scratches. Under a bright light there are some hairlines but there is nothing that really stands out. There is no groove or surface wear and the run out grooves remain very clean. The pink scroll Charisma labels are unmarked and have only a little spindle wear.
Play Grading
The intro on 'Imperial Zeppelin' plays with stunning clarity and Hammill's opening vocal section is just as strong and clear. From then on it plays without issue. A good example of this is where it descends into near silence - there are only a couple of barely audible statics here. The final vocal section is nigh on perfect with only some very light static towards the end of the acapella vocal. I still believe it's worthy of a Mint- grading.
The intro on 'Candle' is flawless and the very Bowie'esque opening vocal is close to that with only one very quiet tick. So quiet you could easily miss it. It continues to play with exceptional clarity and depth and the quieter vocal / acoustic passage near the end is a prime example of that. The remainder is superb with only light static for the final 2/3 seconds. A great Near Mint track although I am sure many would say that is under-graded!
The madrigal like 'Happy' plays with sublime clarity and warmth through every section. A superb track with only a modicum of light static right at the end. Mint-
The very quiet acoustic intro on 'Solitude' has a little static but nothing intrusive. The opening vocal even less and as the volume increases the playback is stunning. Once again there is no interference and the quiet mid vocal section has next to no static. Wonderful clarity! The next vocal is perfect and the closing instrumental could hardly play any better. Strong harmonica work that isn't credited on the cover so I assume it's Hammill. There is just one minor tick on the fade out. I will say the opening section is Ex+ and the rest Mint-
'Vision' plays very clearly for the vast majority and there are no ticks, clicks or pops. There is some background static which is a little more obvious towards the end but still not overpowering. So the majority is Ex at the very least and the final section VG+ but an eminently listenable VG+ if you get what I mean!
The intro on 'Re-Awakening' has no intrusion and the first vocal is just as impressive. The standard does not drop as it continues, aside from one second of light static during a quieter moment (!), and for a final track the sonic quality is superb. There is no 'muddiness' to the sound and no distortion either. The end vocal section is so strong and overall Near Mint is very much deserved. Even the long fade out is close to perfect with only minimal static right at the end.

The very catchy 'Sunshine' plays with impeccable quality through every vocal and instrumental section. The definitive Mint version it could be said.
'Child' has a number of very quiet sections and the clarity of sound is very impressive. The intro is perhaps the quietest but has only minimal light static. From then on it plays so clearly with no ticks, clicks or pops and the quiet vocal passage near the end has barely any static. This is at least Ex+ and there are many sections that play better than that.
'Summer Song (In The Autumn)' plays with remarkable precision through every section. If there is any static is kept to an absolute minimum and Mint- is very much deserved.
The intro on 'Viking' has very little static and the opening vocal is equal to that if not better. Literally nothing intrusive. The long mid instrumental is perfect and the end vocal is again so clean. Quiet again and yet great clarity. Just a little static right at the end. Near Mint
'The Birds' has only the bare minimum of light static on the intro / opening vocal but honestly it's so quiet, so intermittent and hardly worth a mention. From then on this relatively quiet number plays with genuine quality. Hammill's voice suits this track perfectly and the clarity and depth of the audio is first class for the vast majority. There is just a little static and a couple of quiet dull ticks at the end so I will grade as Near Mint- overall.
The very quiet intro on 'I Once Wrote Some Poems' has only minimal light static and the equally as quiet opening vocal section is similar with some light ticks also. As the volume increases the audio is flawless and the remainder has no intrusion aside from a couple of minor ticks near the end. The continuous 'note' at the end has no interference :-) The opening section is VG+ and from then on Near Mint
The Gatefold & Inner Sleeve
The textured cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear. The edges have very little rubbing and the spine has only some light wear on the corners. The right hand corners have less wear and the opening edge is in pristine. The front cover is totally unmarked and you can only see some a little wear in the corners. The back cover is the same and the inside of the gatefold is immaculate. A very strong example overall.
The plain white die-cut inner sleeve is in excellent shape with no side splits or tears and only a little creasing. Minimal marking also, just some faint age related fading around the edges.

Postage & Packaging
I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping. This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage. The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered. Any over-payment will always be refunded.
The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD). An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known. Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing. All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection. They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection. I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.
The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each. There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up! Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
