What a great rare record this is! Here’s a quite serviceable original pressing of “Be On Your Way” by Phil De Marco and the Valiants. There seems to be a lot of disagreement on just who’s the biggest fan of this record.
The song “Lonely Guy” is on the flip and it’s been included on several of those ‘ultra-rare’ dowop CD collections.
Those into a solid rock will dig the song “Be On Your Way” as it’s got a driving beat, and a solid guitar.
This record also been reported to be part of the Cha Cha Records discography, but alas, I’ve never seen one on that label – so I kinda think that that Cha Cha issue doesn’t exist at all, only this one on Debby. From the address at 54 West Randolph, in Chicago, you can see that this company operated out of the Woods Theatre building in the heart of Chicago’s version of Tin Pan Alley.
This one doesn’t turn up too often – and one sold on eBay about five months ago for $948. The only other one was years earlier and went for $500+ Although this one’s not a minty as those – it’s still a great platter to finally snatch up while you can.
