PINK FAIRIES ''KINGS OF OBLIVION''

VIRTUALLY UNPLAYED VINYL! (only a handful of plays from new) AWESOME UK PRESS COVER!  UNBELEIVABLE LIKE THIS AFTER 36 YEARS!!

Here is another from my personal collection, purchased from new  Only ever played to record to tape initially, and then stored in a case with the record seperated from the original sleeve and cover for protection, This is how i have always stored my records! I have all of the Pink Fairies albums trully superbe music! Absolutely stunning top top audio throughout! Almost as good as it gets in my opinion! This boasts of being pressed from the earliest masters \1st uk pressing the earliest produce the best audio available in any format in my opinion! Look! The original master pressers signature hand etched on both sides! In this top condition is very sought after and collectable indeed !  

Kings Of Oblivion is a 1973 album by the UK underground group Pink Fairies!!.

Paul Rudolph had quit the group on the release of What a Bunch of Sweeties, his replacement being Mick Wayne. This new three piece recorded one single, "Well, Well, Well"/"Hold On", but Sanderson and Hunter were unhappy with the musical direction Wayne was taking the band. Convincing Larry Wallis to join the group as a second guitarist, they then sacked Wayne passing songwriting and singing duties onto the inexperienced Wallis!!.

The album was named after a line from a David Bowie track on 'Hunky Dory'. The cover, by Edward Barker, parodied the popular flying ducks ornaments of the time but with flying pigs instead, pigs having become an ident for the band. An inner foldout sheet contained individual portraits of the group members in their chosen scenes of oblivion.

After this album the group continued touring, but Wallis, who wanted to be in "a very slick two guitar rock band", was at odds with Sanderson and Hunter's attitude of being "content to get up and jam for ten minutes". Eventually he would leave to join Lemmy in the first incarnation of Motörhead!!!

The Pink Fairies were an English rock band active in the London (Ladbroke Grove) underground and psychedelic scene of the early 1970s. They promoted free music, drug taking and anarchy and often performed impromptu gigs and other agitprop stunts, such as free outside the gates at the Isle of Wight pop festival, the Windsor Free Festivals as well as appearing at the first Glastonbury outing and Phun City.!!

The group were formed when the three musicians from The Deviants (Paul Rudolph fromVancouver, British Columbia, Canada) – guitar and vocals; Duncan Sanderson – bass (born, in Carlisle, Cumbria); Russell Hunter – drums (born Barry Russell Hunter, 26 April 1946, in Woking, Surrey), having sacked their singer and leader Mick Farren (born Michael Anthony Farren, , in Gloucester, Gloucestershire), returned from a disastrous tour of the West Coast of North America and hooked up with former The Pretty Things drummer Twink. Prior to the tour these musicians had collaborated on Twink's Think Pink solo album, and while they were away on tour Twink, Farren and Steve Peregrin Took had used the Pink Fairies Motorcycle Club and All-Star Rock and Roll Band name, taken from a story written by Jamie Mandelkau, as an umbrella for their activities, including one shambolic gig in Manchester and the recording of Farren's solo album Mona – The Carnivorous Circus.!!

!Their music was upbeat good-time rock and roll, often jamming on the likes of The Beatles "Tomorrow Never Knows", The Ventures "Walk Don't Run", "Ghost Riders in the Sky" and Rock and Roll standards. They were closely associated with the UK underground, being based in the Ladbroke Grove scene and playing festivals, benefits and free concerts. The band also had strong connections with Farren's home town Worthing, playing gigs for the Worthing Workshop. These included an appearance on a float in the Worthing Rotary Club Carnival Procession and a free open-air concert in Beach House Park. Playing for free outside the Bath Festival, they encountered another Ladbroke Grove based band Hawkwind, who shared similar interests in music and recreational activities, a friendship developed which lead to the two bands becoming running partners and performing as Pinkwind!!

Polydor Records commissioned the group to record a single, "The Snake"/"Do It", and were happy enough with the results to offer the group an album contract. The debut album 'Never Never Land' was released in 1971, but omitted the single A-side. An appearance at 1971's Glastonbury Festival led to them being given one side of the Glastonbury Fayre Various Artists triple album. In July 1971 Twink left to travel to Morocco. The band continued as a three piece occasionally augmented by former The Move guitarist Trevor Burton. They released their second album What a Bunch of Sweeties in 1972, which featured some contributions from Burton. On the album's release, and with a promotional tour pending, Rudolph departed going on to play on albums for Robert Calvert and Brian Eno. He would eventually replace Lemmy in Hawkwind.!.

The Vinyl

This vinyl lays perfectly flat on the turntable, on initial inspection this vinyl looks as new!! Still retains it super glossy sheen from new and it is obvious that this has barely ever been played at all! I have had this album from new and have only played this a handfull of times if that!

Only if scrutinised under a strong light could any sleeve removal marks possibly be seen (To be honest I can't see anything certainly no audio marks not even a blemish) at least nothing that would have any effect on the awesome top audio quality.

The Audio Quality

I have played this through track for track at very loud volume on a top system! This plays almost as good as it gets on vinyl in my opinion! (no) loud clicks or pops and with (no) distortion and (no) surface noise what so ever! Absolutely stunning top seperation on all frequencies! Even in between tracks it is silent!  I would grade this audio as at least Excellent plus to near as mint!  I would class myself as highly critical, Please look at my completed listings of records that I have sold of this calaber and you will see that I normally get it right!

Please note! I alays add this disclaimer! Please allow for the odd light static/tick  not consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is a 36 year old record that would have been played on a 36 year old system! To be honest even at super loud volume this plays almost perfect!,silent in between tracks.

The labels

These are the Polydor labels red ith black text and are in as new condition! It is hard to see any real signs that this has ever been played at all,  Unbeleivable to find like this after 36 years! Only ever played by me two times if that!!

The Record Sleeve

This is the original Polydor Poly lined record sleeve with no splits or tares just  light of creases no stains just superbe!

The Cover

 Absolutely stunning very near perfect! Super glossy no marks or nasty writing no real creases at all  (any creases are just very very minor superficial at the spine) Superbe spine no scuffs unbeleivable after 36 years! This must grade at least Excellent plus
