Description
For sale by auction is an overall excellent/close to near-mint condition copy of the FIRST UK PRESSING from 1973 of the 'THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON' album by PINK FLOYD. It is on the Harvest label and has the catalogue number SHVL 804. Known as the 'solid blue triangle' version this copy has the A2/B2 matrices in the runout grooves confirming that it is a first pressing. The sleeve is also an early version as it has the larger (67mm), slightly grey-bluey-purple sticker on the front. Later pressings had a smaller (62mm) sticker which was a darker black. The album comes with the original glossy posters which are in excellent, unused condition. Also included are the two original stickers - these have diagonal lines on the back along with the words Fasson, FasPrint and Crack-Back which confirm that these are original items. However, the original black poly-lined sleeve has been replaced with a white poly-lined one. The sleeve is in really excellent condition with just a bit of cornerwear, edgewear and ringwear and a couple of faint 'rub-lines'. All of these can be seen in the photos so please study all them carefully to see the condition for yourself. As mentioned previously, the posters and stickers are also in excellent condition. The labels are in excellent condition but there are quite a few 'spindle trails' showing that the record has been played frequently. The record surfaces are also in excellent condition with just a few light surface marks. The record plays superbly with only occasional light surface noise and 'clicks/pops'. Definitely no deep scratches, 'sticks' or 'jumps'. However, there are a few 'clicks' at the start of side 1 (during the 'heartbeat' intro) and during 'Us and Them' on side 2 but, even with those, I think you would be hard-pressed to find a better example of this superb album. And when the music kicks in any surface noise just disappears. The album will be wrapped in bubblewrap before posting to ensure that it does not get damaged on its journey.
