HERE IT IS!! THE RARE 1st EDITION of THE PINK FLOYD'S BEST LOVED ALBUM! IT MAY HAVE SOLD IN THE MILLIONS BUT YOU DO NOT EASILY FIND EARLY COPIES IN THIS CONDITION!!!
MEGA RARE ORIGINAL UK 1ST PRESSING WITH THE SOLID BLUE PRISM LOGO!!!!!!!!
UK Harvest SHVL 804. Matrix nos: A2/B2 (A1 & B1 cuts do not exist apparently)
The solid prism was only used on the label of the very early pressings and was soon changed to the more familiar hollow, blue edged triangle. This is a very early cut indeed, almost certainly from 1973 and certainly no later than 1974.
Consider this: Every time the disc is re-cut, the tape is dug out from the store and run over the studio machine’s tape heads. No matter what care is taken, the fact is that the tape is being subject to more wear each time and inevitably it disintegrates slightly each time. This album is now over thirty years old. I have seen cuts of this album which bear matrix cut numbers well into the 30s. This means that the tape has been run through the tape machines for transfer to vinyl over 30 times and no doubt more. The same tape is then used to create today’s high resolution CDs and SACDs. Think how much better they would sound if sourced from the tape as it was in 1973.!!!
I can assure you that this edition beats the pants off all later copies, sounding richer, fuller, with deeper bass and a better stereo 3D definition . The vinyl EMI were using at the time was extremely quiet and I am only selling this one as I have a similar copy already in my own collection
COMPLETE WITH BOTH ORIGINAL POSTERS, STICKERS & BLACK POLYLINED INNER!!!!!!
Condition: Posters and stickers are in absolutely brand new condition and look as if they were made last week.
Disc: Mint. The viny looks bright and clean with no marks as if it has never been played (it has,) no fingerprints or any other marks.
Sleeve: Mint minus: slight edge wear revealing white. Very faint front ring wear to lower front sleeve. Spine perfect. No writing or stickers. Original black inner. LP will be shipped next to jacket for protection against seam splits, inside of an outer liner in sturdy cardboard mailer with extra stiffening material to avoid any possibility of damage in transit. Package will clearly say DO NOT BEND!
