Another from my personal collection of over 50,000 UK albums that I have collected over a period of more than 45 years! Original UK pressing of The Dark Side Of The Moon album  on the original UK Harvest labels. I have decided to list this album for its stunning audio quality, knowing how hard it is to find these albums with decent audio.  This album was purchased from new and originally only ever played to record to tape and then stored in a case with the vinyl separated from the cover and sleeve for protection. This is how I have always stored my records. Features -A9 -B8 Matrix endings. The vinyl initially looks barely ever played in my opinion with no real nasty spider traces on the labels. Visually I can just very barely see a handful of spider traces on one side only.  No visable scratches of marks on the playing surface at least that would cause any loud constant clicks or pops.
The original UK issue un- laminated Garrod & Lofthouse gatefold cover in superb condition in my opinion with light general wear and tear only. I would grade this cover at least excellent. The audio is truly stunning through out! The audio is graded at Very, very Near Mint in my opinion!  No loud nasty constant clicks or pops! So rich and vibrant throughout! Looks and sounds like it has only ever been played barely a handful of times!  This is complete with the original plain white record sleeve with both posters unused, and the two original stickers!. The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 1 March 1973 by Harvest Records.











It built on ideas explored in Pink Floyd's earlier recordings and performances, but without the extended instrumentals that characterised their earlier work.














Its themes explore conflict, greed, time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by the deteriorating health of founding member Syd Barrett, who left in 1968.










Developed during live performances, Pink Floyd premiered an early version of The Dark Side of the Moon several months before recording began.











New material was recorded in two sessions in 1972 and 1973 at Abbey Road Studios in London.











The group used advanced recording techniques at the time, including multitrack recording and tape loops; analogue synthesizers are prominent, and snippets from interviews with Pink Floyd's road crew and others provide philosophical quotations.











Engineer Alan Parsons was responsible for many sonic aspects and the recruitment of singer Clare Torry, who appears on one track. The iconic sleeve was designed by Storm Thorgerson; following keyboardist Richard Wright's request for a "simple and bold" design, it depicts a prism spectrum, representing the band's lighting and the record's themes.






























The Dark Side of the Moon produced two singles: "Money" and "Us and Them". The album topped the Billboard chart for a week, and remained on the chart for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988.
















Following a change in how Billboard counts sales in 2009, it re-entered the chart and has since appeared for over 900 weeks. With estimated sales of over 45 million, it is Pink Floyd's bestselling album and one of the bestselling worldwide. It has been remastered and rereleased several times, and covered in its entirety by several acts. It is regarded as one of the greatest albums of all time.

















The Dark Side of the Moon built upon experiments Pink Floyd had attempted in their previous live shows and recordings, but lacks the extended instrumental excursions which, according to critic David Fricke, had become characteristic of the band after founding member Syd Barrett left in 1968.











Gilmour, Barrett's replacement, later referred to those instrumentals as "that psychedelic noodling stuff", and with Waters cited 1971's Meddle as a turning-point towards what would be realised on the album. The Dark Side of the Moon's lyrical themes include conflict, greed, the passage of time, death, and insanity, the latter inspired in part by Barrett's deteriorating mental state. The album contains musique concrète on several tracks.

The labels
The original UK issue Harvest labels variation for this album (These look superb in my opinion)! Amaizingly I can't see any spider marks/trails around the spindle hole, even when angled to the light and of coarse little if (no) spindle ware the hole is perfectly round. This has only ever been played barely a handful of times only from new when I initially purchased it and one time to play grade for this listing. So rare for an album that is over 45 years old! Impossible to find like this! very very collectable! Early UK pressings very rare in this condition!

The vinyl
The vinyl is absolutely superb! On initial visual inspection this looks like new and still retains its sheen from new! (please note this vinyl has only ever been played a few times by me personally and I originally played this to record to tape! In the last 45 years this has been stored in a case with the vinyl separated from the sleeve and cover to prevent ring ware and damage. This is how I have always stored my records, and of course I played this again to play grade at very loud volume on a top system! In fact even when I look at the playing surface angled to a strong light I find it hard notice any real surface marks or scratches. Any marks that could possible be seen when angled in strong light would be light whyspy surface sleeve removal type only.

The Audio Quality
I have played this through track for track prior to listing at very very loud volume on a top system! WOW!, the moment the needle hits the playing surface it is obvious this vinyl has barely ever been played at all! The audio quality is as you would expect when purchased new, superbe, TOP, TOP, TOP! cristal clear and extremely vibrant through out in fact this plays truly superb. Please note: Please allow for isolated static/crackle that may be heard in isolated very quiet places such as intros and outros. (common on this album even when new) Just listen to the bass lines very vibrant and real clarity very nice to hear like this! This played through superb unbelievable audio seperation, Even in between tracks this was  generally lovely and quiet with just a hint of background static. This vinyl has been stored separately from the cover in a poly sleeve for over 40 years! This is the way I always have stores my records! The vibrancy of the audio on this pressing in my opinion is almost as good as it gets for this variation!  I would class myself as highly critical and this is a truly exceptional sounding vinyl and so hard to find like this after 45 years! Please check my completed listings of records that I have sold of this quality and you will see that i normally get it right! I would grade the audio at least excellent plus to near mint for the most part!
It is noted that debrit was seen on the playing surface after play indicating that this need constsant cleaning before each play to reduce any static/ticks that may be heard in isolated places only.

Please note! That i always make this disclaimer! Allowances must be made for these early to mid seventies pressings. Please allow for the odd isolated static/ /tick/pop that may be heard in quiet places or in between tracks, certainly not consistent throughout the audio. This is a genuine, over 40 years old vinyl that would have originally been played on a 40 year old system! Genuinly only ever played a handful of times ever!

Points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 40 years! A build up of dirt and dust in the grooves from laying dormant causes static crackle\ticks! A constant clean before each play is recommended ! This would reduce any static and enhance the audio quality!

The Record Sleeve
This is the original plain white paper record sleeve,  No splits or tears, light creasing fading yellowing with age, this is the original.

The Cover
The original 1st issue un-laminated Garrod & Lofthouse cover. Note These covers very, very  difficult to keep in good condition and being primarily black in color, these very prone to creasing and rubbing wear. There are no splits or tears and no nasty handwriting. Note: There are (no) real nasty creases. Just light crease lines at the spine edge to note.  The spine is generally lovely and square with very slight creasing only. A truly superbe example rarely seen like this.! No nasty rubbing or ring wear, any rubbing is light only in my opinion.  The rear is exceptionally clean Any imperfections/fading with age, are not really noticed unless really looked for in my opinion. Light indents noted on the front of the cover but only noticed if looked for in my opinion. Just light rubbing wear on the inside but generally very clean. I would grade the cover at excellent in my opinion.
The Posters and stickers This is complete with the original posters and two original stickers! The posters have never been opened before I took photos and have never been put on a wall. There is some creasing at one edge of one of the stickers (See photos)
