Delicate Sound Of Thunder A1/B/A2/B2 (1st Press)

This original UK double album plays with stunning audio and I have play tested every track as detailed below.

Whilst the vinyls have been played a number of times they have lost none of their original quality and play with stunning quality.  There are some faint sleeve removal hairlines that I can detect under a strong bright light and the labels are unmarked apart from some spindle wear.  There is one tiny scratch on S4 which results in the only obvious interference across the album.

Play grading  

S1 plays with stunning power and precision and with barely any 'background'.  This is one of the best produced 'live' albums in my opinion and you really feel like you are there if you shut your eyes!  With only a small amount of light intermittent static on the intro this version of 'Shine On...' is superb as is 'Learning To Fly'.  The remainder of the side plays with phenomenal quality and the vast majority is Mint- without question.

'Sorrow' on S2 plays with incredible depth and such a strong bass sound, to be honest that can be said for the rest of the album also.  The playback on this track is breathtaking and there is almost no static on the intro.  'The Dogs Of War' and 'On The Turning Away' play with the same astounding quality and have no interference whatsoever.  The solo at the end of the latter is just spellbinding and plays with such immense power.

'One Of These Days' has a minimal amount of static on the intro and then plays with 'high end' audio again.  There is no need to describe each track on S3 as suffice to say they play practically as new the clarity and definition is that good.  No clicks, pops and certainly no jumps at all.  Stunning!

There is no static on the 'Wish You Were Here' intro but there are a few light clicks about one minute in due to a tiny scratch that is visible.  Thereafter this classic has no other 'background' and plays as Mint- as do the remaining tracks on the side.  'Comfortably Numb' is so powerful and the guitar solo has no distortion and quite simply plays as new, it sent shivers down my spine!  The final track 'Run Like Hell' again plays to the same dynamic standard and is a fabulous end to a great live album.

The Gatefold

The gatefold is in excellent condition with some minor shelf wear here and there.  The edges do have some rubbing and this is a bit more noticeable along the top edge.  The wide spine remains in great shape and remains 100% legible.  The front and back covers are very clean with only a few faint creases around the edges a small number near the spine also.  The inside of the gatefold is in superb condition and the opening edges have hardly any handling wear at all.  So whilst there is some wear there are certainly no major defects and for 30 years old it is in excellent shape.

Inner Picture sleeves

They are in perfect condition with no splits, tears or creasing.  They are like new.

The labels

They are super clean with no marking or writing just some spindle wear.

Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers

These records have been professionally cleaned on a Pro-Ject VC-S machine
